Perry, I understand your argument. It is great that things are getting better for trans people in those measurable terms. However, anti-transgender people do not exist in isolation. They are our fathers, our mothers, our daughters, our sons. They are bosses and our colleagues, our leaders, our councillors, our doctors, our friends, and our fellow passengers. This is true for a huge portion of trans people - I do not know any without at least two relationships like that. Acceptance in the future, on paper, is great, but it is not happening in the way you want it to be during this very real crisis.

This year, 547 Anti-Trans bills have been filed in 47 states. 24 have passed, targeting trans youth. These are not things that we can ignore, nor can we imagine them away. They do, indeed, have to be resisted - by a community that is - evidently - under real threat.
